24th MayMeet and Greet, Pets at Home, Mansfield, Nottingham NG18 1HA
We were very grateful for the people who came to meet our dogs, find out more
about greyhounds, give donations and purchase our greyhound merchandise. We took
£47.61 in donations and £81.90 in merchandise sales making a total of £129.51.
Our greyhounds did a wonderful job of showing that greyhounds do make wonderful
pets. I think at one stage we had 9 greyhounds together which was wonderful and
all behaved impeccably. | A
huge, huge thank you to all the people who came along with their greyhounds and
supported us, many of them giving up their whole day. A special thank you to the
stars of the show, the greyhounds: Rosie, Brigitte, Blossom, Thomas, Daisy, Spencer,
Bob, Grace, Flop, Hector, Murphy, and Barneywhat wonderful ambassadors they
were. Also thanks to the staff at Pets at Home for looking after us for the day.
| Sunday 31st May—Vicar
Water Country Park, Mansfield Road, Clipstone NG21 9AA A relatively
small turnout for this walk due to the very hot weather, and for this reason the
walk was kept to approximately 30 minutes duration around the lake. On return
to the visitor centre we relaxed in the shade on the grass for refreshments and
the usual greyhound chat. This was a new venue for our monthly walk and we all
thought we will return here in the future, hopefully on a cooler day. | | | Sunday
17th MayRSPCA Sponsored Dog Walk & Fun Day at Wollaton Park It
was positively balmy when we arrived in the Park to set up the stall. We were
answering queries immediately and people were kindly buying our merchandise and
placing money in our tin. Friends old and new appeared which created a lovely
atmosphere for volunteers and visitors alike. Then it rained and rained and then
rained a bit more. This was a really wet event, but we were not daunted and tables
were moved back into the gazebo and we carried on regardless. We were able to
pack up the stall in the dry, thank goodness, after a really rewarding day. Our
thanks go to all our volunteers and everyone who visited the stall, but once again
special thanks to our Greyhound ambassadors Bob, Grace, Billy, Fern, Annie, Murphy,
Barney, Zoe, Blossom and Yenny. We took £173.30 in merchandise sales and £61.96
in donations. | Monday
4th MayDove Valley Community Project Traditional Village Fete There
was a good turn out at the Hatton Village Fete even though the weather despite
the weather. Many thanks to all the visitors to the stall who simply wanted to
enquire and chat about how Greyhounds make wonderful pets after finishing their
racing career and to those who made donations or purchased some RGT merchandise.
Thanks to Lynne Saul for inviting us to participate at this event, and special
thanks go to Lucky, Mona, Ellie, Lucy, Molly, Bob and Grace our greyhounds on
duty for the day and who were the real stars of the show. We raised £24.58 in

7th March 2009 Meet and Greet, Pets at Home, Derby It was another
cold and windy Saturday morning as we set up our stall for another day's meeting
and greeting. We had our first visitors as soon as we had set up, not even time
for a warming cup of coffee, and from then on we were kept busy with enquiries,
and visitors throughout the day. We raised a total of £46.21 in donations,
and £46.00 in merchandise sales. | | We
would especially like to thank all the helpful staff at Pets at Home for hosting
the Meet and Greet at the Store, and particularly to Mike the Store Manager and
Rachel the Deputy Manager. Special thanks also to Robbie, Molly, Ebony, Ellie,
Bob and Grace our Greyhound ambassadors for the day. | Sunday

17th JanuaryMeet and Greet, Park Farm Shopping Centre The
weather forecast was looking ominous all week, so we drew back the blinds with
trepidation on Saturday morning to find …… bright sunshine! Great! The stall was
set up and meeting and greeting commenced. We had a steady flow of visitors all
day, some just keen to support our cause by placing money in the tin, others genuinely
interested in the possibility of adopting one of our hounds, and all our volunteers
were kept busy extolling the virtues of adopting a greyhound . A good time was
had by all and as the day drew to a close we packed up the stall with a hope that
some of the kind people we met may well in time adopt a greyhound. | | Special
thanks go to John the Centre Manager for allowing us to have the stall, Ken and
his staff from Allestree Pet Supplies for the cups of tea and coffee and use of
his `facilities’, Rose and Christine for catering to the needs of the inner man
and dog with supplies of liver cake and jam tarts, but most of all to Bob, Grace,
Robbie, Fern, Hugo, Ellie, Molly and all the other hounds that attended that we
have forgotten to mention for giving up their valuable sleep time to be great
ambassadors for greyhound adoption. We raised a total of £150.00 in donations,
and £56.75 in merchandise sales. | | Sunday

25th May 2008Wollaton Park The forecast for Spring Bank Holiday
weekend did not deter hardy retired greyhound owners used to regular walks in
all weathers with their favourite hounds. Fortunately, the rain held off although
it was very windy. A highlight was seeing at close quarters a handsome male deer
(with a very impressive pair of antlers) who regarded our procession with interest.
After the photoshoot at the end of the walk we enjoyed a well deserved cup of
coffee and some cake at the Wollaton Park cafe, when we could discuss at our leisure
when the sun might shine again.... | |
